The Sportsman can today confirm live, free and exclusive coverage of intriguing fixtures from Betfred League One and the Betfred Challenge Cup on each of the next two Sundays – and they will be featuring a double Hurricane!

Betfred League One kicks off this weekend and TheSportsman.com cameras will be in Birmingham for the historic fixture between Midlands Hurricanes and Cornwall RLFC at the Alexandra Stadium – the venue for last year’s Commonwealth Games, which will be a new home ground for the Hurricanes in 2023. The game will kick off at 3pm, with coverage starting from 2.45.

Then the following Sunday – February 26 (2.45pm) – TheSportsman.com and the Hurricanes will be in more familiar Rugby League territory, at Sewell Group Craven Park, as Hull KR’s home ground will stage the Second Round Challenge Cup tie between Hull Dockers and Midlands.

Dockers had an impressive home victory over Rhondda Outlaws in the First Round, and their squad includes a number of players with professional experience, including at Hull KR – so the Hurricanes will be expecting a warm reception, on and off the field.

TheSportsman.com kicked off their 2023 Rugby League coverage in rousing fashion with the First Round derby between Wigan St Patricks and Ince Rose Bridge which drew a packed crowd to Clarington Park, with Rose Bridge winning 30-22 to secure a trip to Workington Town in the Second Round.

BBC Sport have already confirmed that they will show Cornwall’s Challenge Cup debut at home to Rochdale Mayfield as their Second Round tie on Saturday week (February 25), kicking off at 1pm.

The Third Round draw, when the 13 English clubs from the Betfred Championship enter the competition, will be held on Monday February 27 at one of those Championship clubs – Featherstone Rovers, who are celebrating the 40thanniversary of their last Challenge Cup win at Wembley in 1983, and the 50th anniversary of their 1973 triumph against Bradford Northern.
