NCL Round-Up | August 23

Relegation from the Premier Division is still to be decided for one club as Rochdale Mayfield, Pilkington Recs and York Acorn all lost at the weekend. Recent weeks have seen Acorn make up lost ground but they fell to a 36-18 defeat at Lock Lane who had two try Lucas Moon to thank. Thornhill Trojans were also officially relegated from the top division after a 76-4 loss at Thatto Heath Crusaders who saw a four-try performance from Jamie Tracey. A Ben Shulver hat-trick was the highlight of Hunslet Club Parkside's 42-0 success over Egremont Rangers while two tries from Peter Caddy helped Wath Brow Hornets sink Leigh Miners Rangers. West Hull and Siddal enjoyed 40-10 and 26-12 wins respectively over Pilkington Recs and Rochdale Mayfield.
In Division One Hull Dockers and Kells both had promotion confirmed after wins over Oulton Raiders (24-22) and Featherstone Lions (38-12) respectively. Another hat-trick from Callum Hughes was the highlight as Ince Rose Bridge moved into third position after a 32-8 success against Stanningley. West Bowling leapfrogged over Wigan St Patricks to fourth in the table following a 40-22 win over Pats while Skirlaugh downed already relegated Milford 34-4 and Saddleworth preveailed 24-22 over Myton.
Bradford Dudley Hill and Beverley also had their relegation confirmed from Division Two. Dudley Hill went toe-to-toe with play-off chasing Dewsbury Celtic before suffering an agonising defeat while Barrow Island made sure of their play-off involvement with a 20-10 win over Beverley. Clock Face Miners and Woolston Rovers fought out an entertaining 22-all draw between the 5th and 6th placed clubs respectively while Crosfields now know their promotion party can start if they can beat Beverley in midweek after a thrill-a-minute 42-38 success over Wigan St Judes. Dewsbury Moor Maroons saved one of the performances of their season for their penultimate game, defeating Normanton Knights 34-22 while Hunslet Warriors were unable to raise a team for their game against Heworth.
In Division Three Waterhead Warriors are still in the hunt for the league title following a huge 84-16 win over Millom. Jenson Hamilton caught the eye with four tries and five goals as they made further ground on East Leeds who lost 32-18 at Seaton Rangers, who made sure of a play-off spot in their first NCL season. Shaw Cross Sharks also confirmed a play-off appearance following a hard-fought 26-10 win at Drighlington while Hensingham enjoyed a nervy 26-22 win at Eastmoor Dragons. Another outstanding home display from Oldham St Annes saw them crush Bentley, setting up a one-game sixth spot shoot out next week with Leigh East.
Five NCL fixtures are due to be played this week ahead of the final round of regular season games.
